Roger stunned by Tsonga

29.06.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was upset by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinals in Wimbledon today: 6-3, 7-6(3), 4-6, 4-6, 4-6.

“I think my game was plenty good enough this year to win the tournament, but unfortunately there’s only one who can win it, and the rest go home empty-handed,” Roger said. “That’s what happened to me today, but Jo played an amazing match.”

Roger started well, converting a break point in Tsonga's first service game and held the lead to take the set. He held in the second which he finally won in the tie-break.
But Tsonga broke our champ in the third set and went on to do so in sets four and five - to eventually end Roger's quest for a seventh Wimbledon crown.

Nobody is talking about a Nadal-era there never existed a Nadal era !!
There were two players Roger and Rafa who dominated tennis and that time
has past. Just what the Joker's mother said we have now Novak-Novak era(lol)
Federer said in an intervieuw that is good for tennis that the Joker won Wimbledon
and become the nr.1

dnt understand when people say NADAL ERA i think federer will win more than 20 slams so he is not done.. but even so i think federer era was from 2003 to 2010 (last slam aus open 2010 and i am sure more to come..) 2011 is djoko era from start till date do can rafa fans tell me which was nadal era...i think nadal will end being a supportive role in federer era and then djoko - del potro era... i am already picking djoko to win more slams than nadal.. and del potro will win a lot more...

all i am hoping for is a nadal vs federer semi in USO that woul b perfect... of course the other semi would be djoko vs murray... i think from now on.. in case nadal has to win a slam... he has to win against roger AND djoko... if this is the draw for slams till USO 2012 i think nadal WILL NEVER win another slam...

To all fans of roger, who don`t believed his guts anymore and told him to retire, hey guys you are only one of those peoples who never got satisfactions in life, why don`t you retire self of log in this website? If you think roger is no more the best tennis player and his era is vanishing then don`t show up in this website anymore..True fans never got disappointed they always adore their idol no matter what happened in his career.

Roger can still have beautifull days and maybe even occasionally weeks, but no longer week after week like when he was in his bloom. It seems that Roger is dealing with that fact much better than some of his fans. The numbers on the back of his shoes are well earned and some of them probably won't change anymore. It will be interesting to watch which one - or even ones maybe - actually WILL change before he retires. I can only hope that he will keep playing for as long as he can.

*Gay Albatros*, your comments seem a little bit strange: Roger has done very well over the years being who he is and doing what he does outside the courts. What hasn't changed is the fact that there is a considerable age difference between him and the other 3 top 4 players. Where it may have been an advantage a few years ago, now it has become a disadvantage. The younger ones are now blooming and Roger is in the Autumn of his career.

Like *Gay Albatross* (!) they don't like his 'glamour' side because they are all so macho in a stupid way. the Credit Suisse ad is slightly over the top in an amusing and camp way, but they can't see that. Roger seems to enjoy the fruits of his work and why shouldn't he? It's more honest than Nadal who pretends to be 'normal' and just a 'humble' lad when clearly no super star and celebrity can ever be normal, or at least lead a normal life (whatever that is).

Roger's comments on his own performances and on other players are a bit more honest and more intelligent than most. If they are occasionally slightly less sugary than some remember he's been ungenerously treated by the media. After he lost to Berdych last year he was absolutely roasted for complaining of a bad back - but in comparison to Nadal and his injuries ... well! The medi took Nadal's foot way too seriously reporting solemnly on the pain and danger. Only B Becker saw through it.

Roger did you see it??/ I told you nadal has unstable backhand...you gotta attack his backhand when you don't have chance all the time so he can make unforced errors with it.... when you get chance to attack his forehand side, do it, but as nadal's defense is good, if he return it and you don't have any chance to attack on both side, then send the ball to nadal's back hand consciously...this is the winning factor against nadal...i think novak saw my comment left here...
