Roger stunned by Tsonga

Roger was upset by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinals in Wimbledon today: 6-3, 7-6(3), 4-6, 4-6, 4-6.

“I think my game was plenty good enough this year to win the tournament, but unfortunately there’s only one who can win it, and the rest go home empty-handed,” Roger said. “That’s what happened to me today, but Jo played an amazing match.”

Roger started well, converting a break point in Tsonga's first service game and held the lead to take the set. He held in the second which he finally won in the tie-break.
But Tsonga broke our champ in the third set and went on to do so in sets four and five - to eventually end Roger's quest for a seventh Wimbledon crown.

Of course, Roger would have won had he played Nadal on Sunday - I KNOW BECAUSE:

1. I watched all Roger's RG matches incl. Roger beating Djoko in RG.

2. I watched every single one of Rog's Wimbledon matches this year.

3. I watch Roger all year round and I DO NOT forgive him when he plays poorly or laxly.

He would certainly have taken Nadal in the Final on his current form and past performances these 3 weeks - easy peasy :-) !!!

I still love to watch Mr Federer play, it's tough when the guy you play has nothing to lose and relaxes so much. Jo W S was on really good form from the mid match and Roger dropped off a fraction.
But hey, lets be clear, who will a great number of tennis fans be looking out for at Flushing Meadows - yep our guy R F. Good luck over there and god speed to the next major title, there is another couple or so still to come I am sure

Never underestimate the heart of the champion.Roger love this sport and he wants to be again no1 so he will be.Rafa is just a lie full in anabolic its obviously when you see him to run,none normal man can run like him.....its so sad for the sport...

I agree with MITZ's comments. Roger IS the best and WILL come back and win more championships.

I'm with you all the way, Roger, come rain or come shine. You'll always be No. 1 in my book.

Good that competitors can appreciate each others success by posting congratulations on their websites. This website needs to do something like that. This article has been here long enough. It needs to change to something more joyful.

I was sorry Roger did not play at Wimbledon but that doesn't keep me from admiring all he has done in the past. Roger is Roger and he will do as he pleases. If he wants to come back and win more championships he will. He has a beautiful life and a wonderful family but he is always going to be Number One with me as long as he lives.
