Tsonga up next

10.08.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger defeated a determined Vasek Pospisil (ATP 155) of Canada in his first match at the Rogers Cup 7-5, 6-3 today.

Roger had to work quite a bit for the win, especially in the first set as it took some time for him to find his rhythm. He snatched the first set on the last occasion with the first break-balls given as Pospisil was serving to get into the tie-breaker. Roger was more at ease after that, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the second set and then easing through his service games to wrap up the victory.

Roger will now meet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France - his chance to avenge the Wimbledon quarter-final defeat, when Tsonga came back from two sets down to defeat our champ.

I didn't see the match, ESPN chose to play football, not a bad idea after reading about Roger's match against Tsonga. I knew it was going to be tight, but 1-6 in the third set?! What happened? Hopefully you can get past two rounds in Cincy.. Good Luck.

It's not good that Roger lost but what is it with Tsonga everytime he plays Fed? These guys are going to be tough for sure. But Rafa and Murray lost too. The Djoker looks to be the favourite in Montreal. Roger has to bounce back right away and try to defend Cincy. And then the U.S. Open. It's a big challenge. Roger can do well but he needs belief and a bit more luck. No more hot players like Tsonga early in a draw. I think Roger is destined to do well in the Open. Let's hope so.

Hey Roger, i am extremely sad, i don´t think you played bad but I do think you were not having fun, why not? Why the overthinking? you are the best of all times hands down, you set such a high bar that is difficult for us to see you loose matches. From now on, do it for you, play for fun, like the first time you felt in love with the game. If you do that, none can beat you, not even Rafa or Djoker. Please win the 3 reamining masters 1000, the US Open and the Masters. We all know U can, just do it

If Roger cannot beat Tsonga any more - can he beat Djoker / Nadal or any of the top 20 now ? He shd analyze and decide fast what next. Waiting for 2012 Olympics...long wait.
Cincinnati and US Open - few of the fastest courts in the world - will confirm his future and he shd plan and decide....
Not sure what happened today but really pity RF is fading.......
