Roger defeated a determined Vasek Pospisil (ATP 155) of Canada in his first match at the Rogers Cup 7-5, 6-3 today.

Roger had to work quite a bit for the win, especially in the first set as it took some time for him to find his rhythm. He snatched the first set on the last occasion with the first break-balls given as Pospisil was serving to get into the tie-breaker. Roger was more at ease after that, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the second set and then easing through his service games to wrap up the victory.

Roger will now meet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France - his chance to avenge the Wimbledon quarter-final defeat, when Tsonga came back from two sets down to defeat our champ.

Good luck against Tsonga, Roger! I know you can win! Unfortunately I won't watch ur match because here, in Brazil, they aren't transmiting it. OMG I NEED TO WATCH ROGER vs. TSONGA!

Hi Rog.
I was so happy to see you in your first game against Pospisil and you were grait and I know that you are going to win Tsonga too.
Please beat him I know its easy for you champ you are our number one for now and all the time ever.

Dear Roger, you know how! Tsonga is athletic, etc., but not at your level. No one is. He is a bit of a mindgameplayer--nice enough young man--so watch for that. Straightjacket him, wrongfoot him. He likes to romp, so constrain him. Hope you are feeling altogether. Look forward to your game! You are so beyond all the players: feel it, know it, own it. But also, pace yourself as you see fit.
