Switzerland - Serbia & Montenegro

19.09.2006 | Tennis

The Swiss Davis-Cup Team has been preparing for the relegation-encounter against Serbia & Montenegro on September 22nd-24th since last weekend. Roger joined his teammates yesterday in order to have enough time for preparing in the Palexpo-hall in Geneva. He is profiting from being in Switzerland as much as he can - meeting for business, with family and friends - and even attending a wedding.

"We are starting as the favourites", Roger said, "as Stan (Wawrinka) is also playing very well at the moment. We will trust in our strenghts and not underestimate the opponents."

The Swiss Team consists of Roger Federer (ATP 1), Stanislas Wawrinka (ATP 44), Marco Chiudinelli (ATP 189) and Yves Allegro (ATP 37, doubles). Novak Djokovic (ATP 21) and Janko Tipsarevic (ATP 92) will play the singles and Nenad Zimonjic (ATP 11, doubles) will team up with one of the singles players for the doubles match for the Serbs.

Ever since I became your fan, I've become more interested in your country's excellence in tennis and other fields. So I've been happy with how well Wawrinka has been doing on the tour. I wish you very best. The Serbs can be quite an opponent, with Djok
