Out in quarters

20.08.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger dropped out of the quarter finals in Cincinnati as he lost 6-2, 7-6(3) to Tomas Berdych.

Roger had a hard time with Berdych's aggressive play in the first set. On his own second serve, he managed to win a mere 10% of the points played. Roger went on to improve his serve in the second set, taking it into a tie-break after just missing a chance for a break-ball. But he simply committed too many errors during the last phase of the match, losing against Berdych for the third time in their last four encounters.

The US Open - the last Grand Slam of the season - starts in New York in 10 days time.

Has anyone paid attention to what is really going on in Tennis? Roger continues to dominate the sport even when he loses. Nadal is only what, 26? & already, according to many, going downhill. Novak @ 25 & right now because of what we all know, his streak, is full of confidence feeling unbeatable, but he is beatable. His game is nothing exceptional. These 2 top "young" players r being compared to Roger @ 30. How cool is that? Our Roger is truly the GOAT! So, please stop being such naysayers

Hello Roger,

I watched Andy Murray take the final today and, while I am glad for him, I missed your beautiful game in the final. These are mere mortals battling it out. There is no one who comes close to the beauty of your game.

You are a gift from the gods.

take care and I wish you all good things.

Yes because beating Nadal on Clay at the French Open is such an easy thing to do. Whether it be Nad v Fed or Nad v Djo, Nadal on clay will always be outright favorite.
Roger is 30 and ranked No.3 in the world. He still plays and competes in every Grand Slam and it takes someone to play a perfect game to beat him. He is no where near retirement yet and I can not wait for people like you to eat there words when he wins his next Grand Slam.

iknow he beat djokovic i was happy tho.. but its normal djokovic cant win allways.. but it was better to see djokovic vs nadal in final of roland garros than fed vs nadal.. because iknew fed would loose!! and he did!!!!!

minato.. yes i agree with you, but its also time for him too quit, because people must remember him as a gr8 1.. not as a champ who lost so much at the end of his beautiful carreer.. i am fan of roger and i don t like him to been beaten but.. time to quit!!

Only sometimes.... wow that is deep.
do you forget it took someone of the class and skill of Federer (not brute force) to beat Djokovic and end a 41 match winning streak. Djokovic happens to be the best hard hitting player in the game at the moment. I would have slightly more respect of your opinion if you did not insert crap comments such as Sharapova would beat Federer.

I wonder what would happen if, at least one time, you managed a winner voley, jumping for it and falling to the ground. Most people would say you don`t need it. I agree. But I`m sure that the crowd would go crazy! Just a way to show a strong desire for a victory. There are other ways, you know. Do something, break a racket!!!! I`m a big fan of your game but it`s very hard to see you playing like a robot. By the way, that inside out forehand isnot working like before. Anyway, good luck in US.
