Out in quarters

20.08.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger dropped out of the quarter finals in Cincinnati as he lost 6-2, 7-6(3) to Tomas Berdych.

Roger had a hard time with Berdych's aggressive play in the first set. On his own second serve, he managed to win a mere 10% of the points played. Roger went on to improve his serve in the second set, taking it into a tie-break after just missing a chance for a break-ball. But he simply committed too many errors during the last phase of the match, losing against Berdych for the third time in their last four encounters.

The US Open - the last Grand Slam of the season - starts in New York in 10 days time.

Hi, Roger!
Who watched your game against Del Potro can't understand how you didn't go through the final. It was the most impressive game of the tournament and, in the interview, he said that you played like #1!!!!!!!
The tennis nowadays is very, very strong and it's very difficult for the players.
It's a pity because, sometimes, it looks like a gladiator arena and not a tennis court.
Best wishes for US Open.
Suzana, from Brazil.

Cincinnati was a farce. Dreadful matches in last 3 rounds. What a contrast to last year's brilliant final betw. Fish and Roger. These baseline grinders are killing themselves and the game. And seems to lead to mental fatigue for Roger. What on earth is tennis coming to? There does seem to be a dawning awareness that the so-called power game is killing tennis. The tour is just ridiculous. No other athletes have to go on at this leve all year round.

2. A strong and more powerful backhand would not allow him to hit winners or at least force a weaker response from the opponent. but also enable him to finish points faster.

3. Getting quickl to the new more.

4. Use the drop shot during rallies it is much effective.

Roger must use this tips. I hope you will read my comments

Roger this defeat doesn't matter. Roger your fans wants to get back to number one position if you want you should work on this tips.
1. Using the Slice more; Roger you were using it consistently four years back, but it has slowly gone down. I believe you need to use the slice a lot more. This would certainly help him against the big hitters and give him more time to adjust to his next shot.

2. A strong and more powerful backhand would not allow him to hit winners or at least force a....;

Some athletes are clearly going beyond their abilities! This tournament was a bit of a wash at the semi and final stages. How many soldiers injured? For all that overhitting of the ball, and serving, this is the outcome. I also think that there are other things that make some players overplay for a while, something beyond confidence and practice. Roger, glad you look ahead! Bravo!

Besides the physical preparation, you need to prepare your psychological need to be mentally strong to face the difficulties of the games and not give up no matter who you are facing. Missing a few days to get USOPEN have this as a goal to be achieved that you can win, that require you a lot of effort physically and mentally but it's not impossible you know it, we know we can trust it but you also need to rely believes ...

lets face it guys.. FO draw for federer was probably his easiest of draws in any of his previous grand slams.. the only player who i thought could manage to take 3 sets of federer was nadal.. isner almost had takne care of that problem..
so we all should hope for a draw like that... i wuln't mind soderling.. because he is coming of a long lay off...so 5 players that federer's draw should be free of is del potro, tsonga, fish, berdych and somehow djokovic...
