Roger cruises through

Roger defeated Marin Cilic 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the third round of the US Open today.

 

"The first and second set could've gone either way," Roger said after the match. "He was dominating more of the baseline rallies. I didn't think I was serving particularly well during that period. I knew I had work to do on my serve. I think the wind was tricky. It took some adjustments but I took the right ones and thought it was a very high-quality match."

 

Roger started well, only encountering a major problem at the end of the second set as he got broken in the last game off a big Cilic forehand that Roger couldn't get back.

With Cilic facing a break point while serving at 4-4 in the third set, he was warned by the chair umpire for a time violation. Cilic immediately double-faulted, giving Roger a 5-4 lead. In the fourth set Roger used his first match ball to win the match after 2:40 hours.

Our champ will now play Juan Monaco (ATP 36) in the next round.

Do not worry our anchormen on Foxsport are no better TRY listening to Roger Rashheed,Wally Masur & Josh Eagle boring boring and ALWAYS talking negatively about the past--obviously do not read Roger's interviews whose emphasis is the importance of moving on!!

Great match Roger You played good against cilic, But Roger keep it up you should play more better specially in rallies, cilic also played well and hit powerful shots, this could be threat for you because tsonga and Djokovic also hit powerful shots, just be careful and control unforced errors during the rallies if you manage the big rallies aginst these player, the title is yours. Our fans are with you and We pray all of you to win this year US Open. Com on Roger !

Thank you Roger for a lovely win. You showed great control, patience and determination. Cilic is always a difficult opponent and added to that, I could see and hear how difficult the weather conditions were. Your serve could have been better, but a lot of that, I think was the windy conditions. Even so, more aces please, that gives a good solid base to your game. You played well, keep it up, I had no doubts who was going to win at any time and I was able to go to bed relaxed and very happy!

You played really well in the first set and u lost the second i thought that your gonna loose...Roger you better get a racket with a larger sweet spot in today's game you had so many miss hits.But in the end you managed to win.All the best for the rest of the campaign.GOOD LUCK...
