Semis against Djokovic

09.09.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger reached his eighth consecutive US Open semi-final by beating Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 last night in a match delayed about 90 minutes by rain in the first set. He will now meet world number one, Novak Djokovic, in Saturday's semi-final.

Roger's main two weapons in the night session were his serve (72 percent of first serves in) and his game at the net. "I played great," he said. "I'm very happy with the way I'm playing, the way I'm moving and I'm enjoying myself on the court."
Roger showed a terrific match, even thoug at 2-2 in the third set, Tsonga got a chance to break. But Roger saved that when Tsonga sent a lob wide. From there, Roger was at his best, broking in the next-to-last game when Tsonga double-faulted.

Now our champ faces top-seeded Novak Djokovic in the US Open semi-finals, the fourth straight year they will face off in New York. Roger holds a 3-1 edge. In their most recent head-to-head meeting, in this year's French Open semi-finals, Roger ended Djokovic's 43-match winning streak.

Oh Roger, I'm so proud of you. Youre the goat. Although I'm sick to my stomach because of the match, if you think about it, you had djoker on his heels with 2 match points and he is supposed to be in his prime having a career yr and you are supposed to be the old man. This shows how truly great you are. Yout tennis is like art. Djoko and nadal are like two robots. They remind me of a tennis wall. No matter how many times you hit the fuzzy ball against it, it comes back. Hold ur head up.

WOW, can´t believe yet.

After all, the match was outstanding, of course i am upset, but you must be much more.
Don´t forget, you still have and always will have 16 slams.
I really thought that you would win this year, you are playing better than last year.
Bye and try to forgive yourself

i think i'm going to suffer a heart attack. for me this is the worst loss. raising our hopes to the sky, then simply taking them away. u have given alot through out ur career, u r the best of all time. it's our love to u that keep us hoping to see u at the top. ur loss hurts us too deeply. yet, it's always a pleasure watching u playing. dont retire, it's ur job. stick around. u're always be in our hearts. history is written, u r the best of all time

Dearest Roger, I am so sad for you. One of those rotten days - but you played some amazing tennis and it was sheer bad luck that Djoker broke you that last time. But there is still the autumn, your best time, and you will win the WTF again. Take heart. As for Djoker, I could have forgiven him but his nasty triumphalist nature showed through with vile gestures, and the TV commentators were disgusted and I can only imagine what the crowd thought. Disgusting.

Guys we should stop lying to ourselves, Roger has so much talent but it is all wasted because he has such a weak mental toughness. Common 16 Slams winner and cannot serve a match out leading 40-15, and no I don't think he wanted to win this match because how can you explain that he disappeared from the court in the 3rd and 4th set, which were a total massacre. Roger I certainly love you man but I'm so sad right now and I'm not alone there are many other people who are feeling as sad as me.

yeah, Karacan. We should support our tennis master. We won't watch him forever so we should support him so he could know that we love his tennis and we still want him playing :)
