Roger vs. Roddick 2012

Roger will be squaring off in an exhibition match against Andy Roddick at Madison Square Garden on March 5th, 2012. The two will be facing against each other in a match over three sets, which has been part of the annual BNP Paribas Showdown exhibition.

Both players have clashed 25 times in past with Roger leading the contest 22-3 against the American former No.1. They have battled four times in grand slam finals, three in Wimbledon and one at the US Open, with our 16 times champ winning all four encounters. The best grand slam final encounter between the two goes back to Wimbledon 2009, where Roger defeated Andy in a thrilling tie set victory 5-7, 7-6(6), 7-6(5), 3-6 and 16-14.

Earlier in the evening of March 5th the crowd will be able to enjoy an exhibition-match between Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki.

Roger, you have more money than you need. As a real fan, I request you to not play all these exhibition matches. Nadal and Djokovic are winning all the tournaments, while you waste match points.

It is better to retire from the ATP and then play these exhibition matches. Like Sampras did.

Nice to know that you will be playing against ANDY RODDICK. I remember how much I loved the moment when you jumped to victory after you won the tie breaker against RODDICK at 2009 Wimbedon. Such a lucky moment, I wish you had that moment against NOVAK DJOKOVIC this time !!! Anyway, you will win many matches, it is only a matter of time!

Some days ago I was thinking the US Open Final 2011 was going to be Andy Roddick vs. Roger Federer. It would have been nice.

It WILL be nice to see you both playing against each other, but unfortunately you'll have to let him "win" . . . ;-)

How exciting for your fans in NYC-4 great champions playing on one night. I am sure it will be a wonderRFul event. Your NYC fans will love to see you playing again at the Garden. Someday I hope the ATP will put the year end tournament at the Garden again, that would be great!
