Roger defeated in 5 sets

10.09.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger had to end his quest for another US Open title with a 7-6(9), 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, 5-7 defeat against Novak Djokovic in the semi-final today.

Roger had a tough day as it is only the second time in a total of 184 matches that he has been beaten after leading by two sets. The loss means he will finish a season without a grand slam title for the first time since 2002.

Everything looked perfect in the beginning as Roger booked the first two sets and was playing really well. It was in the two following two sets that Djokovic raised his level of play while Roger did not quite keep up. Roger got everything back together in the final set, taking it to 40-15 on his serve at 5-3. But an incredibly hard forehand from the Serb and one of Roger's balls just barely touching the net and sailing into the out kept him from clinching the victory. Djokovic went sailing through and secured the win after over four hours of play.

Djokovic was simply lucky, nothing else. Federer shoud've won the match. However, Roger still plays the most beautiful tennis in the world, that's why he's my favorite tennis player.
Looking forward to see you again on the court. We all are with you and you'll never ever walk alone! :)

NIKOLA011 - If you are Fed fan then I am a Martin Luther King, and i am a white :] so, don't please writte stupid thing. You are talk about Federer press. Yes, he say that FH on 1st match point was lucky, and was lucky. Nadal and Murray say that in ther press. Murray say 1 or 2 that shout from 10 time go in. Find that and read. Federer wasn't say that Djokovic was lucky and win the match. Don't waste time here, go do some "smarter thinng", save us :]

NIKOLA011...you realised that you don't think and you are talking only to talk, I am wondering what you are doing so smarter, because you seem to me that you are not so smart. You are saying about crying baby I don't understand what made you say that. Federer beat Djokovic at Roland Garros, period, that is fact and he has 14-11 with Djokovic, that is math, no, so...as your simple brain, Federer is better, period, now do smarter things, I wonder what...

Roger, you still are the best and the Lord of Tennis. You are the one that can beat Nole, only you because we all have seen that Rafa plays too much like Nole, not being able to change enough his way of playing.
Keep doing , keep working we all keep believing you. I know, you have the though part of the story.... FEDERER for EVER

Nikola011...I don't know if you understand what am I saying or you don't want to understand? I said monkey behavior, you talked about Federer's speach like it was inappropiate. Now you come with math lol. Definitely the math says that Djokovic was better, and if you are seeing in this was tennis I recommend to you not to watch anymore tennis and watch only result and think simple.

adi1008 I mean,i have to say u belong in that 99.99% ppl here.He had to say that Djokovic won that macth beacose he won 3 sets, simple as that. U know simple math? 3 is bigger then 2 right?,or i missing something? If Federer was angry on himself why did he say that 1 "lucky" shot goes in and off u go? He had 1 more macth point and 3 games after that?Who was better?DJOKOVIC.And who is better player?DJOKOVIC. So if u call best player in world monkey i don`t know what to say about 3 or 4 on a list?

Iit's absurd, for me that press conference is realistic. What should he say? That Djokovic deserved to win and he was better than him? The fact is Federer lost that match, and don't tell me that that press conference disturbed you because I don't know why and the monkey behavior of Djokovic didn't. You can be a fan of Federer or not, it's your problem, but it's strange your reason of not. Federer should be angry with himself for this, loss he should be blame. Federer was proper in his speach.
