Victory just one more point away
Roger and Yves Allegro gave Switzerland a 2-1 lead over Serbia in the Davis Cup with a 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-4 victory over Nenad Zimonjic and Ilia Bozoljac.
"This victory puts in a good position to win the tie," Roger said. "I hope I can give Switzerland the winning point tomorrow." He will play Sunday's first reverse singles match against Novak Djokovic. Should Roger fail to beat the 21st-ranked Serb, the tie will be decided by the last reverse singles between Stanislas Wawrinka and Janko Tipsarevic.
Switzerland is hoping to remain part of the 16-team World Group for the 12th year running, while Serbia is trying to join the elite field for the first time in its short existence since its separation from Montenegro in May.
The Serbs equalized yesterday, when Djokovic defeated Wawrinka 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
