Roger levels vs. Australia

16.09.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger defeated Lleyton Hewitt 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-3 in his first match in the Davis Cup encounter today, pulling Switzerland even with Australia at 1-1.

It took Roger a set and a half to get used to the conditions on the grass court at Royal Sydney Golf Club. He then continually raised his level of play, winning the important points from there on. Roger thus secured the important first point for Switzerland after Stanislas Wawrinka had lost to Bernard Tomic.

Roger and Stan will play Chris Guccione and Lleyton Hewitt in tomorrow's doubles.

The 1st set was soo scary, but I was soo happy that you got your confidence back. It was surely an interesting match to watch. It made yesterday afternoon more interesting for me. Best of luck for your doubles match today. Hopefully you can kick some butt on the court today. GO ROGER AND STAN!!!!

Bravo, Roger: I am not surprised! And good luck for the doubles, too! **MODESTI fan, re your post, I saw no terrible defeat for Roger at the USO. I do see things, situations, commentary that seem to be designed for certain ends--not Roger's end, but to benefit others. And I also see that there are some that have some auxiliary capabilities. Roger played much better than Djokovic--because he is a better player. How and why did Djoke win? Well, I think there is a design at work. Don't give up, RF!
