Roger levels vs. Australia
16.09.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1
Roger defeated Lleyton Hewitt 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-3 in his first match in the Davis Cup encounter today, pulling Switzerland even with Australia at 1-1.
It took Roger a set and a half to get used to the conditions on the grass court at Royal Sydney Golf Club. He then continually raised his level of play, winning the important points from there on. Roger thus secured the important first point for Switzerland after Stanislas Wawrinka had lost to Bernard Tomic.
Roger and Stan will play Chris Guccione and Lleyton Hewitt in tomorrow's doubles.

PS I look forward to watching you play doubles as well!
Wishing you all of the very best for doubles match--we will be there--I love doubles.
Kindest regards
Margaret
Fans if you are able listen to Roger's on court post match interview--wonderful,warm humble--complimentary towards Lleyton, tells us that he needed to change their flight to watch the Royal wedding at Mirkas request. etc
The interviewer Hamish asked him who he would like to have at a home dinner.
RF His wife, kids and friends. He also autographed a shirt !Enjoy.
I cannot say how wonderful it was to sit courtside and watch you and Lleyton play again- both professional champions [and fathers] who have alot of of respect for each other. No messing around between points/serves/games. Both served very well. Congratulations to both of you for giving us some great tennis thank you. Well done on your win,Roger
There appeared to be many strange bounces, must have been difficult for both of you to adjust to the converted golf course .
It was so worth staying up until 3:30AM my time, to see your beautiful grasscourt game and fighting spirit. I'm so proud of you as I'm sure all your teammates are.
Best of luck in the rest of your matches!
Good job! It must have been so hard to adjust to the time difference and surface! Good luck in the doubles and I'll be cheering for you as always! :)
