Despite a good start, Roger and Stan were defeated 6-2, 4-6, 2-6, 6-7(5) in Sydney by Australia's Hewitt / Guccione in doubles today.
Switzerland will need a Sunday win from Roger against 18-year-old Bernard Tomic (ATP 59) in order to keep hopes of Davis Cup promotion alive. Stanislas Wawrinka (ATP 19) will play against Lleyton Hewitt (ATP 199).
Well done, Stan. Great fight against injury, grass and dangerous Hewitt.
Cautiously, the victory is near, but the game is not over, yet!
Stan: I wish you can finish seccessfully your match!! Also your country must be proud of you because you are playing with injury and you are giving all your best in this DC. GO, SWISS TEAM!!!!! Go Switzerland!!! I love you Roger!!!!!!
What great matches from both of you, thank you and congratulations Roger on your win--I was concerned having heard your interview this am that you may have had the odd niggles--blew them away on the court!
As for Stan the Man--what a match he played/playing against Lleyton, full of excitement as we all know how LH fights and runs everything down--Stan matched him with his wonderful tennis.He is not an Olympic gold medalist for nothing.

needed to be suspended, it is part of life and sport. Most importantly the well being of the players must be considered first and foremost at all times. We do not want any injuries.IMO the correct decision was made.

Later in the afternoon there was a 'haze'that came over the sun causing an early & a rather quick darkness--normally there would not have been a problem with the light at this time of the year. Actually, our group commented that it was becoming dark very quickly not long before play was suspended.ALSO the suspension was agreed upon by BOTH captains.
