Defeat in doubles

17.09.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Despite a good start, Roger and Stan were defeated 6-2, 4-6, 2-6, 6-7(5) in Sydney by Australia's Hewitt / Guccione in doubles today.

Switzerland will need a Sunday win from Roger against 18-year-old Bernard Tomic (ATP 59) in order to keep hopes of Davis Cup promotion alive. Stanislas Wawrinka (ATP 19) will play against Lleyton Hewitt (ATP 199).

The match between Wawrinka and Hewitt was suspended due the darkness, the score is 2-2 sets and 5-3 games.

Hello Roger,

Tough doubles match yesterday, but beautiful to watch. Excellent Match with high class play by both teams. I just watched your single against Bernard Tomic and you were superb. How quickly things can change in a match was demonstrated in the 3rd set. One lesser service game and Bernard gaining confidence from that break and we are in a 4th set. But you closed that out perfectly. Congratulatiotions on your victory!
I hope Stan can seal the deal for Switzerland.

Congratulations for your win in a tough game. Was not so easy to play at the small grass court behind the school, couldn't be a smaller, like some local match. But they didn't distract you.Great Champ.Hope Stan will be the tough and win like you was.For Switzerland.Good luck Roger.
