Defeat in doubles

Despite a good start, Roger and Stan were defeated 6-2, 4-6, 2-6, 6-7(5) in Sydney by Australia's Hewitt / Guccione in doubles today.

Switzerland will need a Sunday win from Roger against 18-year-old Bernard Tomic (ATP 59) in order to keep hopes of Davis Cup promotion alive. Stanislas Wawrinka (ATP 19) will play against Lleyton Hewitt (ATP 199).

You are both the good players, but something happened! You did your best, I wish you both to win Tomic and Hewitt! But with injuries, it's difficult. Anyway, I wish you all the best, hope you'll win!

It's OK, maybe you're just a little bit tired, and obviously, it was a double, so it was not all your fault. Just try your best against Tomic and keep yourself healthy. Good luck!

It does not matter win or lose as long you try the best. Federer san , stay healthy. It a a pity that your country only has you and Stan san. So stay healthy. Others who are not injured and feign injury. You always try your best. So stay healthy and it does not matter ... we support you always.

It seems very unfair to me that the Swiss team was expected to fly off to Aussie, regardless of what other matches they were playing to play the Davis Cup. Roger and Stan were already booked to play at Flushing Meadows, which officialy ended (though the QF,SF and F got delayed) leaving less than a week for the team to get to Aussie, get over jet lag/injuries/fatigue and different surface. This is bad planning by somebody! If the Swiss lose, it will not be due to lack of ability. Stan, Rog, ALLEZ

Tough loss in the doubles Champ! But that's what happens with little time to prepare and with no good substitutes. You can not win a team event alone. You need some good substitutes when not feeling well. At least 3 good players are needed. Look at Spain (6 players in top 40), Serbia (3 top 20 players and doubles specialist) and other countries with players experienced in Davis Cup ties. Too bad that Stan isn't 100% and you aren't prepared well. Just do your best, don't risk too much.

Hope Stan will be able to play with his injured ankle if not all is coming on the
shoulders of Federer just as in the doubles ,besides Stan is not a good grass
player.
