Roger storms through

31.10.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger made a solid start into the Swiss Indoors in Basel today, defeating Potito Starace 7-6(3), 6-4.

It took Roger some time to find the rhythm in his ground strokes, but he won the tiebreak of the first set comfortably 7-3. In the second set our champ then broke the 54th-ranked Starace's serve in the opening game and eventually wrapped up the win after 78 minutes in front of a cheering home crowd.

Roger will now face either Thomas Bellucci (ATP 38) or Jarkko Nieminen (ATP 66) on Wednesday.

Dear Roger
Congratulations! You did well in the first set (Nieminen made a lot of errors!, but you were good). In the second set I couldn't recognize you, my dear boy! Inconsistency, poor serving, terrible! You allowed him to take that set. Thank God you were better in the third set, but not as good as I'm used to watch you! Anyway, the most important is that you won! Never forget you are the best player!
Wish yu all the best in the next round. Good luck!
Go, Roger. gooooooooo!
Love, Mimi

Congratulations Roger.
Guess it will take a day or two to get back to full rythm, after a long break. But that is natural. The next match should see you back in full flight again. LUCKY US.
