Roger storms through

Roger made a solid start into the Swiss Indoors in Basel today, defeating Potito Starace 7-6(3), 6-4.

It took Roger some time to find the rhythm in his ground strokes, but he won the tiebreak of the first set comfortably 7-3. In the second set our champ then broke the 54th-ranked Starace's serve in the opening game and eventually wrapped up the win after 78 minutes in front of a cheering home crowd.

 

Roger will now face either Thomas Bellucci (ATP 38) or Jarkko Nieminen (ATP 66) on Wednesday.

Just saw that you received the No. 1 history award in Basel. The ceremony was so good... just loved watching it. Game would never be the same without you, You are such a class act. Missed you roger! Don't understand why Roger only has 5,185 ranking points, new he would lose some but didn't think it would be that many, could someone please explain why?
