Roger made it through to the quarter-finals after defeating Jarkko Nieminen 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 at the Swiss Indoors today.

It looked like an easy win in the beginning as Roger raced through the opening set. But three double faults left him a double break down in the second as Nieminen grabbed a 4-1 lead and later the set.But our champ found his serve soon after in the decider as he dropped a single point on his first serve and secured one break which gave him just the lead he needed to make it into the next round in Basel.

To succeed in 2012 Rogerio has to, repeat, HAS TO return serve better. Case in point:

well, you made it,but quality of the game to be improved to remain as a champion,as I said before,serve is your main weapon.At critical point you need to take enough time between the serve to add power and avoid unforced errors

Congratulations, Roger ! I lost my connection half way through the second set at the most critical part of the match...I had no doubt that you would pick it up and win and so you did ! I could breathe again...such joy to watch you play again !
