Roger and the Lindt bear

At the opening of the LINDT Chocolateria in Kilchberg on 14 November, Roger signed five LINDT bears made of fine bone china, one of which can be exclusively auctioned here. The money will be entirely donated to the Swiss charity organization “Schweizer Winterhilfe”, who has its 75th anniversary this year. The auction of the five LINDT bears signed by Roger is the kick-off for a long-term cooperation of Lindt & Sprüngli and the Roger Federer Foundation in favour of the Swiss Winterhilfe for a support programme for underprivileged children and adolescents in Switzerland. The aim of this initiative is to countervail the social isolation of children who are suffering from poverty.

Dearest Roger, first of all, thanks for being you. Off court and on court, you're the best! That is another admirable project. We are so proud of you. Hearing you talk about being awakened and running in the room when your daughter woke you up at 4am the day of your Paris finals (and winning) gives us a picture of you as a father. It is so meaningful that children and young people have their horizon expanded so that they can see a better future that nothing can replace that.For those born and raised in relative comfort the future is out there, but for the poor, especially if it generational poverty, it is almost impossible to aspire to anything else. Bravo to Lindt, & Sprungli, and Roger Federer! You see that the world must become a better place!
