Roger soars into semis

Roger showed a master class performance today to defeat Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-0 at the ATP World Tour Finals.

Roger outclassed Nadal thanks to a highly concentrated performance, showing his full repertoire in front of a thrilled crowd. The match started with both players holding serve - until Roger seemed in a world of his own after taking a 4-2 lead with a break. He had almost 90% of his first serves in in the first set! Roger showed no mercy in the second set, breaking Nadal three times and sealing his victory after precisely one hour.

 

Thanks to his victories against Tsonga and Nadal, Roger has secured place 1 or 2 in Group B and thus a spot in the semi-finals. He can play Thursday's match against Mardy Fish without any pressure.

what a performance!! I just feel so happy for you. I know is a big thing for your confidence. You did amazing, was insane to be honest, I could not believe what my eyes were seeing :) we are going to get used to it :)

I think SFs will be Ferrer-Nadal, Federer-Djokovic, wanted Djoker to face Nadal in semi but looks like that's not possible now. Rob (atp commentator) said Ferrer was going to struggle this year with the draw and he's not lost a set yet. Awesome that both groups have a must-win game because it adds to the excitement/ tension.

This is as close to perfection as we have ever seen ANYONE play. And Nadal didn't play poorly. This is what YOU can do at your best and it is over-the-top dazzling brilliance. We have watched it three times now because it goes so fast that one wants to relish some of the most spectacularly shots you pulled off. Your easy power was stunning! So much for your backhand being a weakness....In answer to the commentator who asked if you had ever bagled Nadal before, yes, on clay in Hamburg in 2007.

Keep it up Roger. You are playing some awesome tennis. It must be tough going against the top 8 in the world. Play your match against Marty. You can rack up another 2 sets.
