Roger suffers clear defeat

30.12.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Six of the world's best players are getting ready for the 2012 season at an exhibition in Abu Dhabi this week.

After a first round bye, Roger played Novak Djokovic in the semi-final today. After a tight opening, Djokovic soon began to settle into his stride and pulled away with a break of serve, before winning nine straight games. Unfortunately, Roger found no answer, letting the Serb streak away to a clear 2-6, 1-6 victory.

The season will officially start next week, as Roger opens the new year by defending his Doha title.

Some people will forget what Roger does at the end of the season and how he came back to his best for just a one match and it's also not worthy one .

Oh well, this means nothing, just one match...not totally prepaird I guess, but a clear loss, with no consequence other than critics talking already this is a mental blow, Djokovic new star..Federer and Nadal too old...Yeah let see about that when it really matters. I don't like Abu Dhabi at all, I understand that Roger iniates the sport this way and I respect that. best of luck for 2012, just forget this nonsense match...go to the real deal with full power !!!

djokovic wins easily, ferrer wins as nadal scores low. exho tennis is weird. i remember roddick beating roger at an exho just before roger pummeled him at AO 2007. taking anything from exhos is risky. if roger had beaten novak i wouldn't have taken anything from that either. hopefully roger got a good look at novak's game and will plan accordingly. whether it means anything or not will show up in matches to come. only roger and his team knows at present. much love & luck in doha for roger.

Dear Roger
You should have played better, but.... Your opponent played as if it's the question of 'to be or not to be'!!! Anyway thank you for apologizing! Hope you'll play a true exho match tomorrow!
Wish you all the best, good luck and good health!
Love, Mimi
