Roger open season in style

Roger needed just 54 minutes to defeat Nikolay Davydenko 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the Qatar Open today.

"I played agressively, served well and had good movement," Roger said after the match.

Our champ broke the Russian to love right in the opening game and carried on in perfect manner to take the first set after just 22 minutes. Davydenko managed to save a match point on his own serve at 1-5 in the second set, but Roger terminated the victory upon his own serve only shortly afterwards. He now has a winning record of 16-2 against Davydenko.

Roger will now face Slovenian qualifier Grega Zemlja (ATP 116) in the second round on Wednesday.
