Roger makes it 42!
Roger coasted to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Britain's Tim Henman today to capture his first Japan Open title. He took control early, taking advantage of a double fault to break the 10th-seeded Henman and go up 4-2 before closing out the first set with an ace.
As Roger had announced it was special to play against his good friend Tim. They had been out for dinner together earlier this week where Tim had even tried his talent as a chef. "It's been a great year so far," Roger said."To come here for the first time and win this tournament is a great feeling. I hope to come back next year and defend the title."
The victory in Tokyo is Roger's 42nd overall tournament title, he is now back to level with Martina Hingis. His impressive stats now look even better with a 9th victory in a 13th final (out of 14 tournaments played) this year.
Next up are the events in Madrid, Basel (where his fans from home are most eager to see him play) and Paris-Bercy as well as the Masters in Shanghai.

We all love you!
