1000th Match

Roger defeated Juan Martin Del Potro with ease today, winning his 1000th match on the ATP Tour 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. The impressive performance secured him a spot in the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

"I thought it was a great match," Roger said. "I'm happy. It was tough, with the sun and shade creeping across the court. Del Potro is a quality player and I was able to manoeuvre the ball around the court. I hope I can keep it up."

Roger had a fabulous start, racing to a 4-1 lead within just 22 minutes. Argentina's Del Porto needed  an enourmous effort to battle back and level it at 4-4. But Roger came back just then, winning the next six out of seven games. After 1 hour 59 minutes our champ then made everthing clear upon his first match-ball. 

In the semis on Thursday, Roger will play the winner of the match between Rafael Nadal (ATP 2) and Tomas Berdych (ATP 7). It is the ninth time in series (since 2004) that Roger plays the semis at the season's first grand slam.

I will say one thing, you fought until the very last point. Well done you showed heart you never once apart from set 2 showed any signs of giving up

Every game you play is a privilege for me to watch. I always see rallies and shots that are each a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Some of the fans are too highly strung, give the guy a break, he's not in his prime or will ever be again, just watch his matches with an open mind really.

talking about humiliation. not true, yet not wrong. you shouldn't care so much about winning or losing. you have already proven everything. try to enjoy the points more, try to swing into it, feel it, feel the anger, the frustration, the happiness of making a good shot, and if you lose, accept it, it's not your time anymore. people would see this and enjoy watching you and accept without problem if you lose. on this way, it's not so fun to be your fan watching you lose like this. still i remain

maybe because he's the best of all time and he wants to stay the best. makes him afraid of losing. but he shouldn't. he already is the best. but nobody wins forever. he is at the end of his carreer and should behave like that. let nadal en djoko be the big ones now. you must be the one who fights back and screams if you break as if it was an impossible to break against those opponents. and if you lose, it's normal, cauze they are the stars of this moment. accept it

ADI1008 please for once open your eyes Federer is one of the oldest
tennis player on the ATP tour he has had his time everything he can win
will be a bonus he is touring with his family all over the world so it is not
anymore what it has used to be besides no one is talking about retir that is
up to Federer. But one thing is for sure kids around the block are not good
for your concentration in GS
