Out against Rafa

26.01.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger suffered a 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-7(5), 4-6 loss against Rafael Nadal in the semi-final of the Australian Open today. It was an incredibly intense match, offering the spectators a true tennis-spectacle.

Roger started perfectly into duel no. 27 with Nadal, breaking the Spaniard in his first service game. But and only a few sloppy points at 4-2 gave Nadal enough room to find back into the set. But Roger managed to take the first tiebreak only a bit later. In the second set, Roger lost his rhythm, giving Nadal plenty of room for a total of three breaks. Our champ then saved a set point in the 11th game of the third set, eventually forcing a tiebreaker. After three unforced errors on Roger's side, Nadal clinched the set on his last of five set points. In set number four, an early break on Nadal's side was enough for him to seal his victory after 3:42 hours.

"I thought Rafa played well from start to finish," Roger said. "It was a tough match physically as well. I'm disappointed, but it's only the beginning of the season. I'm feeling all right, so it's OK."

don't give up roger, tennis would be such an insignificant thing without you, i hope you will play until 40 yo!
You play the best tennis, you've just to be confident in it, without trying to adapt your game to nadal.
Be confident in your huge talent and skills roger, i'm sure you're gonna win more slams!

In general, I would say that your game is much closer now to when you were at your top than for quite a while. I am sure that you are going to keep at it I am almost sure that you will win more majors again. It was always your game on the ground which was so strong and it won't be long before your consistency on that level is going to return.

hi roger!! i just thought of another poem for you!!

Roger is so sexy,
in every color that exists.
I love you in red, pink, blue, and more,
there's just so many lists.

One day I'd love to see you live,
they say you're better looking in person.
I just fainted from the thought of that,
someone let the nurse in.

I love the way you smile,
I love the way you talk.
You're so amazing when you run,
I could just stare at you walk.

i'll always love you! xoxo : ) xoxo

All I hope for you, as a fitting end to your magnificent career, is to end on a high. I know you can beat Djoker with your variety. How I wish for a GS final between you two. And any GS final you are not involved in is boring, I now just check the score every 30 minutes, how sad, but you must believe in yourself and for sure you will beat Nadal at a GS again. You are too good a player not to.

It seemed like you wanted to show more variety in your play but at times it felt unnatural, like you were going to net and running around the backhand on the 2nd serve, as per your coach's instructions and not on your own intuition.Serving and volleying at 15-15, not your normal play, approaching to Rafa's forehand, not your normal play, less sliced backhands on return and during rallies, again not your natural game.Variety needs to be used very discreetly and at key points, not every game.

Roger , most of us agree that you are a genious , please consider this phrase from another genious.

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Roger, first ... I would like to apologize for my English.
I am great fan you, and sometimes do not sleep to see and record your games.
but also I'm very concerned when you lose to Nadal.
if you look at the last GS, his serve and forehand did not work, why? and why they operate in the Masters?
I do not know what happens, but my only wish is that you remain in history as the best of all time

I am great fan, I love to see Rogers beautiful stylish game but reality is, he needs to get a 200 % confidence back that he can beat Nadal and Djokovic. It is in his mind I am afraid
