Out against Rafa

26.01.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger suffered a 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-7(5), 4-6 loss against Rafael Nadal in the semi-final of the Australian Open today. It was an incredibly intense match, offering the spectators a true tennis-spectacle.

Roger started perfectly into duel no. 27 with Nadal, breaking the Spaniard in his first service game. But and only a few sloppy points at 4-2 gave Nadal enough room to find back into the set. But Roger managed to take the first tiebreak only a bit later. In the second set, Roger lost his rhythm, giving Nadal plenty of room for a total of three breaks. Our champ then saved a set point in the 11th game of the third set, eventually forcing a tiebreaker. After three unforced errors on Roger's side, Nadal clinched the set on his last of five set points. In set number four, an early break on Nadal's side was enough for him to seal his victory after 3:42 hours.

"I thought Rafa played well from start to finish," Roger said. "It was a tough match physically as well. I'm disappointed, but it's only the beginning of the season. I'm feeling all right, so it's OK."

@joewisco...let's face it, you are an idiot. Have you seen the match against Nadal? That match wans't won by Nadal, was lost by Federer. Face that you are retard. When Nadal was at his best level? I don't remember.

Roger is the best. I believe that if you look at his recent fall in the rankings you will see that the downward spiral began to happen as soon as he hired Paul Annacone. What I would like to read (one day soon) in the NY Times, is the headline "FEDERER FIRES ANNACONE, time to get back to basics". I firmly believe that if (and hopefully WHEN) he does this, we will see his career flourish again, and he will take his rightful place on top of the mens rankings. (Just my opinion)

to my opinion u have lost because of
1.You are not playing your usual game particularly against nadal
2.while playing against nadal ready to play five sets.
3.the greatest and only match u and nadal played is Wimbledon 2007
4. u got so much nervous while playing nadal. remember u r the one who can defeat and defeated all rivals.
5.if u got early break make other games with your service.
6.And the last thing you are too fit than nadal and djokovic since they are suffering with injuries ofte

you know roger this is the most careless match that you have played ever...
if you are not having the stuff or caliber or potential then this lose is okay but you know you are the man that tennis history has not ever seen before.... i have prejudice that u ll going to lose to nadal after he breaks you in the first set.....

I believe in Roger. Furthermore, Djoko took off his shirt in Aussie.

He is smart - he will not do anything like that in Wimbledon - and besides, Roger will beat him - Roger will win Wimby

Roger, you will always be the best. I think the only things that gets you when you play Rafa is his unstoppable appearance on the court. His jumping and pumping himself up all the time. Sometimes it is hard to see that you enjoy playing him, and because of that your game suffers against him. You pump yourself up against other players, but not against Rafa. Why? I wish you many more finals and wins and we kow you can do it!

I have just returned from the Aus Open and saddend to see so many negative comments about Roger's game. I saw Roger play against Del Potro and Tomic and these games were peRFect. Unfortunatel Roger didn't serve as well against Nadal, but it appears he is changing his game, going to the net more often and showing a more agressive side to his game. Keep it up Roger. You need these changes to beat the hackers that just bash the ball back and forth from the base line.

Let's face it if Roger has to play Nadal of the Djoker to win a grand slam he won't win another GS unless they are injured. I mean Nadal beat Roger and Nadal was not at his best.

Roger will never develop a double backhand. Why not? Against Nadal, it's almost necessary.
