Roger voted greatest of |all time

28.01.2012 | Off Court, Starseite 3

The official website of the Australian Open published the result of an online-poll asking users "Who is the greatest men's player of all time?" this week.

Over 45'000 tennis fans participated in the poll, resulting in a fantastic victory for Roger as greatest player of all time!

Our champ received over 70% of the votes (33'000).

Second place - at quite some distance - goes to Rafael Nadal (5'700 votes). The Spaniard is followed by America's Pete Sampras (6%) and Rod Laver (4%). Roger met the Australian legend in Melbourne Park this week.

Had no doubt that you would win the Greatest player ever, you are so gracious and have made Tennis what it is today. Other players do not hold a candle to your achievements and never will have the fan support you have. Congratulations on being such a champ

For me no one else comes close. Its only a few years now since I've followed the sport but I was stunned by the way you played it.That's the reason why I still keep on following tennis because of you. It's just sad at times because most of the younger players now are rising & peaking at the same time. But if you will just continue to do hard work & believe that the Lord will give you more strength then you will surely play longer than expected. And I will surely support you all the way.Godbless

..don't worry friends, Roger is different..., he is doing art in tennis, for all others is only a sport... noone can imitate him..., all people have already seen this, it's a pleasure to see him playing, even if wins or not... I hope he will play at least till age of 40 and will double his record !

Duh! Didn't need a poll of fans to figure that one out! Of COURSE Roger is the best of all time! But I'm glad the Aussie Open confirmed what we all already knew! No one else even comes close!

All in all, it seems that time will show whether is someone the best player in history or not. In my opinion it is too early to say something like that for Rf. Firstly, Rafa had stepped in to the court, now we have Novak too. I think Rf can hardly win any of the grand slams in future, simply NOW there are better players than him. Beauty and ellegance are not enough to be the No1. anymore, now the mental power, excellent tennis skills and endurance are the key elements for the real champion. Havi
