Roger voted greatest of |all time

28.01.2012 | Off Court, Starseite 3

The official website of the Australian Open published the result of an online-poll asking users "Who is the greatest men's player of all time?" this week.

Over 45'000 tennis fans participated in the poll, resulting in a fantastic victory for Roger as greatest player of all time!

Our champ received over 70% of the votes (33'000).

Second place - at quite some distance - goes to Rafael Nadal (5'700 votes). The Spaniard is followed by America's Pete Sampras (6%) and Rod Laver (4%). Roger met the Australian legend in Melbourne Park this week.

Hello Roger,
It must be flattering to be regarded the greatest player of all time, but you will be the first one to say that it is impossible to tell who is THE greatest of ALL TIME. I am sure that you are the greatest of MY time and that you are one of the all time greatest. I am sure none of the other tennis legends were not offended by the outcome of this poll, because they know that it is no more than just a poll.

I agree with Ahosny, mental weakness against Nadal is still a concern but in the last BNP Paribas Masters, Roger was different ,his body language showed great determination and fighting spirit against Nadal and he hardly made any unforced errors. He should do the same in the future GSs. After all, Roger is the champ and he has nothing to loose, bearing this in mind he should play aggressive game, I am sure he will win few more GSs to remain in the history as NO1

The nearest airport to Fribourg is Bern. Gives a 29Km train ride to Fribourg. Also direct train can be taken from Geneva airport but is 120Km ride.

there are two negatives in RF game, the 1st, which he overcame, was the passiveness returning the 2nd serve, well done. The 2nd it's the mental part against Nadal, this area makes him loose critical points, most of the times easy, time and time again. Yes he plays great against RF but that doesn't mean that RF wastes easy doable shots that cost him valuable trophies. I assume if he overcomes that as well he will go on to win at least 4 GS and the #1 slot which is his main focus, guaranteed.

They often talk of their great competitiveness on court but showed sportsmanship friendship off the court. Importantly they remainded humble and true to themselves to this day.
Roger is not only a great student of tennis history but in many of his interviews over the years has said how much he appreciates former champions and what they have done for the sport of tennis. Recent interview with Rod Laver was excellent. A pity that the ATP, 'expert writers' do not learn from them
