Roger voted greatest of |all time

The official website of the Australian Open published the result of an online-poll asking users "Who is the greatest men's player of all time?" this week.

Over 45'000 tennis fans participated in the poll, resulting in a fantastic victory for Roger as greatest player of all time!

Our champ received over 70% of the votes (33'000).

Second place - at quite some distance - goes to Rafael Nadal (5'700 votes). The Spaniard is followed by America's Pete Sampras (6%) and Rod Laver (4%). Roger met the Australian legend in Melbourne Park this week.

Excellent comment-I fully agree with you.
For those of us who play, watch/follow tennis[and or other sports] appreciate former greats of DIFFERENT eras and what they in achieved under very different conditions,travel ,equipment etc.rules regulations were all very different with very LITTLE money--they played for the very love of their chosen sport.
As you mention the sportsmanship is one aspect of their sport that endures-. Rod Laver, Ken Rosewall, Tony Roche etc

Nuturlich, Roger! There is and never was and never shall be anyone like you! The only thing that diid disappoint me is tha ROD LAVER GOT SO FEW VOTES. PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HIM, AND LET HIS GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND STYLE AND SPORTSMANSHIP BE KNOWN! IT SHOULD BE THE ATP's JOB. THEY SHOULD LET THE FANS, EVEN OCCASIONAL SPECTATORS, KNOW THE HISTORY AND UNDERSTANDATBLE, ACHIEVEMENTS OF THAT GENTLEMAN KOWN! SHOULD BE AFTER YOUR NAME, I FIRMLY BELIEVE!

you am with out doubt the best popular tennis player in Nigeria. my cousin paint very big mural of you on side of his house. i have you t-shirt RF Foundation in my car which i wear when i drive through Lagos! wow so much emotion and spirit in ROGER'S game. you must win WIMBLEDON 2012!!!!

With out an iota of doubt RF is the best player ever - who on earth plays variety of shots that RF plays on court every single time ??? Absolute beauty to watch RF on court and hope the future generation play Tennis as Tennis unlike some top players now.

NOBODY ELSE plays tennis with your grace and style. You are always such a joy to watch. Good luck with the rest of the 2012 tournaments, especially the Grand Slams. I really want you to win another Wimbledon and US Open, and the French, I hope you can beat Nole and Rafa at Roland Garros this year. Love and regards to you and your lovely family.
