Roger voted greatest of |all time

The official website of the Australian Open published the result of an online-poll asking users "Who is the greatest men's player of all time?" this week.

Over 45'000 tennis fans participated in the poll, resulting in a fantastic victory for Roger as greatest player of all time!

Our champ received over 70% of the votes (33'000).

Second place - at quite some distance - goes to Rafael Nadal (5'700 votes). The Spaniard is followed by America's Pete Sampras (6%) and Rod Laver (4%). Roger met the Australian legend in Melbourne Park this week.

I'm not sure about being the greatest but he sure is the most fun to watch and to be the greatest he will need to beat Nadal in GS's the next 3 times in a row.

Of course, you are the greatest of all time -- not just because of your victories, but because of how you play and how you behave on and off the court. As others have commented here, the men's game is now a power game, played on courts that don't vary a lot from surface to surface. It's pretty dull stuff to watch a lot of the time -- except for those wonderful matches when we can enjoy your smart, elegant (AND powerful) game. I hope you keep playing for years more.
