Federer flying after 'rock solid' triumph (ESPN.co.uk)

Juan Martin del Potro was left to rue a host of missed chances after suffering a straight-sets defeat to Roger Federer in the final of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam on Sunday. "In the first set, I was rock solid. I played great from start to finish," Federer said. "In the second set, it got tighter. I'm happy I was able to sneak it out. He couldn't pull the trigger the way he wanted to. Just like yesterday [against Davydenko], I had a good mindset. I really believed I was going to make it difficult for him, especially on the break points. I know the second set could have been a whole lot different."

Federer extends victory streak (The Province)

Roger Federer extended his streak of winning at least one title on the men's tour to 12 seasons by beating Juan Martin del Potro in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament final. "It's nice to pick up the momentum after the indoor season I had last year," Federer, who finished 2011 by winning titles in Basel, Paris and London, told reporters. "I really enjoyed myself here and saved my best for last."

"Even now, the expectations were high throughout the tournament. I am happy I was able to fulfill the expectations."

FedEx crushes Potro to win first 2012 title (Firstpost)

Roger Federer outclassed Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the World Indoor Tournament on Sunday to win his first title of the year. The top seeded Swiss, who also beat Del Potro in the quarter-final of the Australian Open last month, dominated every rally and wrapped up the first five games before the Argentine third seed had anything to his credit.

I know a lot of ppl wont agree with me and they ll be angry but truth is that "It is not a much of Federer to feel happy of these kind of small victories". I remember a famous quote "The problem with the rat race is that even though u win it u still remain to be a rat". Still love u Roger but am looking fwd for u to do this in Grand Slams not in small tournaments

I could not help but think, especially in the 1st set, that the only problem del Potro had, was that the Federer Express had already left the station and was chuffing along at full speed! Which is a big problem as an opponent. It must have been a wonderful sight and I very much look forward to seeing that happen against Nadal and Djokovic, I still believe that when determined enough Roger can do it. I am particularly looking forward to the Olympic Gold, at Wimby it has his name on it!!!

Roger, you showed again that you are still full of power and passion... It was a five star performance all the week in Rotterdam. You were really 'rock solid' in the most important moments. I am very happy for you and I know that this year you will raise your number of Slams at least to #17! You are the best and my dream is that I could someday watch your match live at the centre court, not just on TV. I have the faith in you and I know you can still kick asses.

Your very greatest fan,

Uros
