Roger cruises into round 2

Roger moved into the second round in Dubai with a 6-0, 7-6(6) victory over Michael Llodra today.

Our champ startet fantastically, winning the first eleven points of the match and closing the opening set after a mere 18 minutes. In the second set, Roger had to battle here and there as both players held their serve and Roger also had to fight off a break-point. In the tiebreaker Roger then made everything clear after 67 minutes of play.

Next up is a clash with Spain's Feliciano Lopez (ATP 15). Our champ leads the head-to-head 9-0.

Hello Roger,

You seemed to have continued where you left off in Rotterdam a week ago. Congratulations on a wonderful match and an excellent result. Really quality play from both of you in that second set. The commentators reminded us of Llodra maybe lacking a little practice on the surface and maybe being not at his best in the first set, but that was quicly over in the second. A real treat for the spectators.

Hi lovely man. What a first set - sublime. Llodra woke up in the second set (I confess I was a little surprised in the first set but I guess he was tired). So he was a bit more tricky in the second set as one would expect but you stayed focussed and we were all treatment to a clutch of wonderfully sublime shotmaking as usual. Good luck against Lopez; I'll be watching the only player worth watching as usual. Love, love, love, xxxxx
