Roger cruises into round 2

Roger moved into the second round in Dubai with a 6-0, 7-6(6) victory over Michael Llodra today.

Our champ startet fantastically, winning the first eleven points of the match and closing the opening set after a mere 18 minutes. In the second set, Roger had to battle here and there as both players held their serve and Roger also had to fight off a break-point. In the tiebreaker Roger then made everything clear after 67 minutes of play.

Next up is a clash with Spain's Feliciano Lopez (ATP 15). Our champ leads the head-to-head 9-0.

Yes! Never a doubt! The first set, Llodra had no answers. Maybe he was tired, then adrenaline kicked in. The wonderful statistic that I saw was your second serve percentage! We all heard how important that second serve is. Beautiful, powerful, play, shotmaking, varied. Your play looks and is " graceful" not because it is "baletic" but because of how you move and handle he ball, aligning yourself with it! That gives it that power without loud grunts. Bravo!

I too couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift. I was worried about this match with the form that Lodra has been in, but Roger dominated and can do the same for the rest of the tournament. Keep it going.
