Roger reaches the next round in Madrid

19.10.2006 | Tennis

Roger beats Robin Soderling in an inspired match and reaches the quarter-finals. Neither player showed any sign of weakness on their serve and went to a tie break in both sets. At these key moments Roger produced his customary push to win the tie break 7-5 in set one and 10-8 in set two. He will meet Robby Ginepri in the quarter-finals after the American defeated world number eight Tommy Robredo 6-3 7-6.

Well done Roger - Soderling is a tricky opponent and played well today - you stayed steady through the occasional frustration on your side and all the excitement created by Hawkeye and came through in straight sets - a fine result!!

Good luck tomorro
