5th title in Dubai

Roger showed a great display today to defeat Andy Murray 7-5, 6-4 in the final to secure his fifth title in Dubai and his 72nd career title.

"It's beautiful winning this" Roger said. "I've had a great start to the season, and a great finish to last season, so I hope I can keep it up. But there are a lot of guys who are going to play tremendous as well."

It has been a tight opening set and both players were in excellent condition. A break in game no. eleven was just enough to take the opening set after 52 minutes. In the second set, Roger scored an early break to take a 3-1 lead but Murray responded with a re-break shortly after. After another break on Murray's serve at 4-4 Roger was then able to serve out the match, which he did with his second matchball - winning the Dubai trophy for the fifth time.

Next up is the BNP Paribas Showdown in New York on Monday where Roger will play Andy Roddick.

Belated wishes for your No.72! Sorry Im late this time also. Greaaaaaaaaaaaaaat display! Really enjoyed each & every moment at Dubai! Especially that rally you played against Lopez! Wow! Soooooooooooooooosweet Rog! We all hope & pray that you carry on yr blistering form! All the Very Best dear! Take care! Love to your family. One thing i want to ask, why was Mirka missing at Rotterdam & Dubai?

Wow, You had a splendid win in Dubai. I hope you will stay like this for the whole year. You were very aggressive, you were able to hit any ball coming from the opponents. It's wonderful. You are still a human being. We don't expect too much from you but we were very happy for you. No matter it's not a grand slam, but as long as you displayed the best of your game. God Bless you.

Congratulations, Roger, on the wonderful start of your 2012 season! I have followed the action on ESPN and Tennis Channel in the U.S. and have greatly enjoyed your play. Great job at Rotterdam and Dubai!

I hope your success and renewed confidence lead to many more titles as the year moves along. Good luck at Indian Wells and Key Biscayne and in the European clay court season. 2012 can be a tremendous year!
