Davis Cup: the draw

From this Friday until Sunday, the Swiss Davis Cup team meets the USA in the first round of the Davis Cup in Fribourg (Switzerland).

The draw took place today. Stanislas Wawrinka (ATP 28) will open the three-day encounter against Mardy Fish (ATP 8). Roger will then play John Isner (ATP 17) in the second match of the day.

On Saturday, Roger and Stan - Olympic doubles champions - will meet Mike Bryan and Ryan Harrison in the doubles.

On Sunday, a match between Roger and Mardy Fish is likely. And then, to decide the rubber, a match between Stan and John Isner could be on the program.

Friday (starts 1 pm)
Wawrinka (SUI) - Fish (USA)
Roger (SUI) - Isner (USA)

Saturday (starts 2.30 pm)
Roger/Wawrinka (SUI) - Bryan/Harrison (USA)

Sunday (starts at noon)
Roger (SUI) - Fish (USA)
Wawrinka (SUI) - Isner (USA)

Nothing special just as in the semis of the AO against Nadal winning the first set
and kicked out in the 2nd 3rd and so on...... continuing story.

Shame on both Swiss players. Roger now I’m requesting you to quit really. 2012 will be another bad year for you. with this performance don't expect any thing. Your big problem is serve return.

So sad you lost this match, Roger, when it had been going to well to start with, but Isner's service is formidable due to his height and he was clearly in the Zone for most of the match today. So sad that Stan lost his match after such a fight. Comms remarked though that when Isner has played one tough match, in the next he's likely to have nothing left. So this gives Stan some good hope for his other singles.
GO GO IN THE DOUbLES, ROGER AND STAN!!

Roger lost to Isner on clay in front of home crowd !! Real shame !!
Hope Swiss loses in the doubles - else Fish will beat Roger not only in straight sets but may get bagels !!

His match stats are actually quite good, half the unforced errors compared to Isner, except Isner hit about 20 more winners. Isner's serve must've killed it as a contest, but the service return is worth looking at for RF, in tournaments to come. It definitely has to improve, especially against ND and RN, since he gives return games too easily to the opponent. And break point conversion % is poor.

62 in 4th set. Well I suppose Nadal just beat Isner at RG 11 in 5, his height on serve must be an even bigger problem for Fed's backhand, as the the ball will rise above head hight!

They play on clay so Spain can win again. It was clay last year, why again I ask as well. Looks like Swiss 0 - USA 2
