Roger advances in three sets

14.03.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger survived an early storm from Milos Raonic before taking control to seal a 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-4 victory in Indian Wells on Tuesday.

"For me it was a difficult match," Roger said. "He`s probably seen me play a whole lot of times on TV which helps him out a bit. But I really did well. I hung in there and played a great second set."

Roger had some trouble with the Canadian`s power serving in the opening set but went on to show great tennis in the following sets and secure victory in just over two hours. He had never played the 21-year-old Raonic before and will now play Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci, who benefited from a walkover by Russian Nikolay Davydenko.

Supreme performance my love! What a wonderful display of intelligence, just when you started to read his service better you were unstoppable, your service worked beautifully. You are in insane good shape, not only looking incredibly handsome but also super strong and fit.

Roger, you are an amazing man. Playing there, a youngster, with a serve that is a bomb, you sick, and - while many others withdraw - you find your way to read his serve, to play a wonderful match. So proud of you, for you, for myself of being your fan, Roger. God bless you. Thank you and congratulations.

It really was a tight match. No margin for error. My heart was pounding for the whole match. Very dangerous player but you did well. Your confidence nowadays helps.

Unfortunatley not been able to watch any of your matches live but from the few highlights I've seen you have been playing really well despite not feeling you best. Hope you can get back to your full strength soon. Good luck in your next match against Bellucci.
Loads of Love

Absolutely stunning win ! A brilliantly played match. Have to show those young whippersnappers (definition: a young and inexperience person considered to be presumptuous or overconfident) who is boss. You are playing some great tennis, especially since you are a bit under the weather with this stomach flu.

Sad to hear that the family have it as well. The poor little ones. Hope you and the family have a speedy recovery.

Best of luck in your match against Thomaz Bellucci.

Always with you.
