Roger battles into quarters

15.03.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger got by Thomaz Bellucci 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to book a spot in the quarters in Indian Wells.

"These are the wins that sort of almost feel better, to be quite honest, because when you're playing great, it's simple, it's easy, right?" But when it's not going your way and things are difficult, that's kind of the good wins," Roger said.

For the second day in a row, he dropped the opening set but he then broke Bellucci in the first and ninth games of the second to level the match. The final set went with serve until Roger broke the 50th-ranked Brazilian in the 10th game, converting his second match point when the left-hander hit a forehand long.

It was Roger's 74th consecutive victory against a player outside the top 20, and he has won 36 of 38 matches since the US Open. After a well deserved rest today he will play either Juan Martin del Potro or Denis Istomin on Friday.

Dear Roger
Congratulations again! You said it well: It's no wonder to win when you are playing well, but when you don't feel well and not play well enough for your standards a win is almost as a gift! But you deserved it. Now you must take a good rest and try your best on Friday. There will be no problems if you are healthy and fit enough! Thank you for making me and all of us happy!
Wish you all the best and good luck dearest Roger!
Go, Roger, gooooooooooo!
Love, Mimi

Dear Rog, I think it's truly amazing that you have continued to play through this flu virus. It's tough enough as it is with all players with nothing to lose throwing the kitchen sink at you. As I said before you have always shown great determination and grit but because you do it with such grace and fluidity it makes it look easy. But of course it isn't and we fans all know this and love you for your courage and strength. Good luck against Delpo, love to our beautiful champ, xxxxx

By the way I forgot to thank MACBETH for the advices. All I hope is Mirka will read it and prepare for our Champion. He needs to be stronger against the rest of the players he meets.

And what is good about his victory is, he achieved all this with flu and almost deciding to leave the Indian Wells Tournament. Well Done Champion! The rest of the players. The next player is not a surprise for you. Then Nadal or Djokovic will not matter much for you. You definiteley know how to beat them.
Good Luck. The Trophy will be yours again

New stars who have a probable good future are always the most difficult players to play against. They have the advantage of watching you and analizing you many times. Raonic and Bellucci are two good examples. Roger had never seen their plays and never knew how they played. But does it matter at all for the GOAT? Definitely not! The result: It took Roger only one set for each player to learn them before he showed his supreme abilities. That is why He has been on the top of the pile for years!..
