Roger to meet Roddick

24.03.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger secured his participation in week 2 in Miami with a 6-2, 7-6(3) victory over 19-year-old American Ryan Harrison today.

Roger battled at some points, especially towards the end of the second set, when he let a 5-2 lead slip away and was even confronted with a break-point at 5:5. But once again, Roger showed excellent tennis when under pressure and closed out the match after 84 minutes for his 40th victory in the past 42 matches. He has now extended his winning streak against players outside the top 20 to 77 matches.

Roger will now play Andy Roddick - winner of the tournament 2010 - in the third round on Monday. Roger is 21-2 against Andy Roddick, one of the defeats going back to Miami in 2008.

No worries Roger...while it isn't fun to lose it just wasn't your match. Your year is off to an amazing start and your game looks GREAT! Rest up after all the matches here and at IW and see you on the clay! PS. I hate how American announcers make excuses for everyone but you, for instance, John Isner lost because he was tired from the IW finals. What will it take for them to cut you the teensiest bit of slack?@!

My Rog! I know this is not a tough loss! And at least me.....understand is time for vacation and the weather sucks there!! I think those are the reasons of this loss!

FED4EVA: i totally agree with you. these fans are vicious. unhappy about rog losing ranking points and murray catching him. murray can't catch him at this event. dubai and rotterdam titles means he is closer to 3rd all time. 73, macenroe 77. so they mean a lot. with all rog has done lately this loss can't make me sad. isner lost last night and he was tired from IW. so i'm sure rog is too. he is not happy he lost. so he needs a little love now and thanks for his 40-3 record lately.

Winning and losing is part of the game, but you win most of the time, so it's a great champion. Everything is renewed with each new day, so you have more time to practice , rest and prepare for next tournaments God bless you and your beautiful family!!!

Dear Roger, I cannot understand your lost against Roddick, after your amazing match with Nadal in Indian Wells. I hope you take a break and recharge your energy. Keep on going, you know that you are strong and healthy and can fight to be again # 2. Come on Champ, you are the best and your followers trust and support you.

Very sloppy loss, especially after winning 6-1. Did you do a walkabout! You did have almost a weeks rest. 2 losses in a row to Roddick!! Now you can rest for over a month a lose on clay.

Hi Roger! I love your game!!! Ah, Roddick was static thanks to you. Well, I would've loved to see you win but I don't think this was a bad loss. You bring out the best in all the players and Andy is no exception. See you soon! Take a good earned rest, regroup and get to it! Number One 4Ever...yes!!! Love you, my family loves you. When you're on TV it becomes a family affair. Your game brings us together...thanks for that too! Cuidate! Recuerda es solo 1 derrota contra miles de victorias
