Out against Roddick

27.03.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger lost in the third round of Miami today against Andy Roddick 6-7(4), 6-1, 4-6.

Both player started well, holding serve in the first set with Roddick finally taking it in the tie-breaker. In the second set, Roger broke Roddick three times and showed great tennis. In the final set, Roger did not manage to take advantage of the four break chances he had, whereas Roddick seized his only opportunity of the match to seal the victory after two hours of play.

"I had my chances," Roger said after the match. "I could have been up a break early in the third, but he did well to fight off those break points. He served really well. I didn’t just get the lucky break today that I got in Indian Wells. I regret missing my opportunities and giving myself maybe a chance for tomorrow. Then you never know how things all of a sudden turn out in the tournament. It is what it is and I’ll deal with it the way I always have.”

Next up are the Mutua Madrid Open - the tournament starts on 7 May.

Hi Roger.Hope you're doing well with the family. It's one of the most difficult things to wait to see you again on court. It's ok that you didn't get the title in Miami,it's so really ok,because no matter if you lose some rare times! You're the best ever, the most perfect & a miracle. So,have enough rest and put the tennis world on blaze in the next tournament.I can't wait to see the look on Joker and matador's face when they are crashed down by you again. It'll be the utmost joy.Rock my life RF!Go.

Continued, - nephew's name is Christian Thigpen and he lives outside Winston-Salem, NC. His middle school tennis coach beat Isner when he was 15. So my family lives in Isner country, but Christian is only interested in Fed. He is now saying he wants to play like Fed and take a run at the records - he has long way to go but I am encouraging, encouraging and he is ultra excited. His dad plans to take him to Winston Salem ATP tourney. I hope he maintains the drive.

Looking forward to Madrid and the clay. Hope you are having a good time with family and friends. My nephew, which I mentioned previously, is all psyched up about tennis. I took home three DVDs, you v, Nadal 2006 Wimbly, you v Soderling, 2009 French & you v Roddick, 2006 US. He wants to be you. He practiced several hours every day that I visited. He is now asking about summer clinics, USTA. Your tennis and character are his inspiration.
