Out against Roddick

27.03.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger lost in the third round of Miami today against Andy Roddick 6-7(4), 6-1, 4-6.

Both player started well, holding serve in the first set with Roddick finally taking it in the tie-breaker. In the second set, Roger broke Roddick three times and showed great tennis. In the final set, Roger did not manage to take advantage of the four break chances he had, whereas Roddick seized his only opportunity of the match to seal the victory after two hours of play.

"I had my chances," Roger said after the match. "I could have been up a break early in the third, but he did well to fight off those break points. He served really well. I didn’t just get the lucky break today that I got in Indian Wells. I regret missing my opportunities and giving myself maybe a chance for tomorrow. Then you never know how things all of a sudden turn out in the tournament. It is what it is and I’ll deal with it the way I always have.”

Next up are the Mutua Madrid Open - the tournament starts on 7 May.

Roger is a unique player, because, even he is almost 31 and the courts are slow, he cen beat them. And that is marvelous. And I am not exaggerating when I say, if things were different, if ATP haven't done this, Roger would have had, let me see, at least 20 grand slam titles. That's the truth. Greetings to all of You people who love tennis with winners and with points at the net.

Excellent link ADI1008 ! And I must comment today's tennis. It is so boring when you see Djoko, Nadal and Murray playing each other. It is a torture. They are all the same, and not just them, I am talking about majority of today's players. Honestly, I can't blame them. The ATP is guilty for that. They slowed all surfaces, only the color is different. And the tennis is always the same. Why is that happening ! The answer is simple. Money, money, money and the sponsors.

*ADI1008* Even though he's British, I have to agree. I've said before about slowing down of courts, heavier balls etc: it will lead to more of this boring baseline play, AND many more injuries to players: 2-3 hours for 2/3 sets, it's ridiculous. Thanks for this link and for the one before: it helps for we federer addicts!
Hope you are having a great rest and recharging those batteries champ, it seems a long time to Madrid, love, xxx

I can't get enough watching whim playing, and that piano music at the begining is a perfect combination, until Federer's next match I will watch youtube to see real tennis, because I tried last night to see something but it was so boring, over 2 and half hours for nothing, only 2 sets, Federer plays 3 sets in 2 hours with magic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2X6AN9qkLg&feature=related

Roger, if You play in Monte Carlo, You have a big chance to replace Nadal at number 2 position, and that is very important, because You can avoid Nadal or Djokovic in the semi final of Roland Garros. So please, if You are healthy, play there. I am sure, it can only help You, an of course, I dont want to be intrusive, I am writing this because I would love to see You play there.
Best regards !
