Out against Roddick

Roger lost in the third round of Miami today against Andy Roddick 6-7(4), 6-1, 4-6.

Both player started well, holding serve in the first set with Roddick finally taking it in the tie-breaker. In the second set, Roger broke Roddick three times and showed great tennis. In the final set, Roger did not manage to take advantage of the four break chances he had, whereas Roddick seized his only opportunity of the match to seal the victory after two hours of play.

"I had my chances," Roger said after the match. "I could have been up a break early in the third, but he did well to fight off those break points. He served really well. I didn’t just get the lucky break today that I got in Indian Wells. I regret missing my opportunities and giving myself maybe a chance for tomorrow. Then you never know how things all of a sudden turn out in the tournament. It is what it is and I’ll deal with it the way I always have.”

Next up are the Mutua Madrid Open - the tournament starts on 7 May.

It was a good match except for your first serves which were nt as good as you played with Nadal. Andy played good serves too. Good match just as a fan dont like to see you lose. Let it go ..

Too bad, Roger, but you've had a great run on hard courts, this year and towards the end of 2011. Have a good vacation with your family! :)

Sorry about the loss, Roger. Andy played terrific, although you played well too, its ok. Have a good rest and practice time, and see you in the clay court season, Champ! God Bless!

Sorry about the loss against Roddick today, take this opportunity to chill and relax with your family, then return 100% fit in Madrid and then for the French Open. Collecting further trophies & grand slams as you go from tournament to tournament.

I'm very disappointed for Roger because he played a great tennia, but Roddick broke in the 7th game of the third set on 3-3. After Andy went 5-3 and after Roger won his service game, but FOR ONLY TWO ACES ROGER LOST.
IT'S INCREDIBLE!!!! I don't like players who play with only serve...

This morning, I felt appalled. The result showed inexorable. Now accumulated forces for new games. I know that will search out pretty soon again in moments of happiness.
