Out against Roddick

27.03.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger lost in the third round of Miami today against Andy Roddick 6-7(4), 6-1, 4-6.

Both player started well, holding serve in the first set with Roddick finally taking it in the tie-breaker. In the second set, Roger broke Roddick three times and showed great tennis. In the final set, Roger did not manage to take advantage of the four break chances he had, whereas Roddick seized his only opportunity of the match to seal the victory after two hours of play.

"I had my chances," Roger said after the match. "I could have been up a break early in the third, but he did well to fight off those break points. He served really well. I didn’t just get the lucky break today that I got in Indian Wells. I regret missing my opportunities and giving myself maybe a chance for tomorrow. Then you never know how things all of a sudden turn out in the tournament. It is what it is and I’ll deal with it the way I always have.”

Next up are the Mutua Madrid Open - the tournament starts on 7 May.

Hi Roger, It's sad to see you lose, but it's ok cos a player can't win all. Anyway, have a nice holiday with your family, a very good rest and I am sure you will come back to win more Grand Slams and Masters series, and the Olympic as well. You have played a lot of matches since the start of season, so a good rest and fine tuning is what you need. Without you in the tournaments, it's not fun and thrilling to watch. Waiting for your return at Madrid Masters. God Bless!

Roger, such a shame you lost especially to Roddick as i know you would have beaten Monaco, but as you say its tiring winning 3 back to back titles. I do wish you would think about taking the wild card for Monte Carlo or perhaps play Barcelona. If you play MC you'll have 3 weeks off after miami and 4 if you play barcelona, think of the points, Nadal has a lot to loose, Murray has a lot to gain especially after his tun in Miami. If not please go for Rome like never be for as its one you don't have

How typical Roddick goes all out when playing you but then has nothing left in the next round, I haven't seen the match yet, but my guess is he might have got a bit lucky and he probably felt confidant having won the exhibition match, which you played after winning a tournament so he was the fresher of the two and as it was only an exhibition not really so important.

You are such an all round player wheras Roddick really is not.

Enjoy the little break, fit and ready for next tournament.

I hope you're enjoying a good rest Roger, preparing for the clay court push in the months ahead. As always, without you tennis isn't very enjoyable. I'm so fed up with the excuse making of the other top players: they're tired, it's windy, the schedule, courts, and of course their poor aches and pains. I can barely stand how the announcers buy into it even before the match begins! You're older and have succeeded on all surfaces, for YEARS...oh boy do I miss you!!!!

Dear roger,I hope you can take a good rest.I think we'd better not to too care about the rankings.Of course you are always the greatest,so let it happen naturely when you win French open and Wimbledon and U.S.open,at least one of or two of or even all three of them. Oh,just can't wait your 17,18 GS. You are playing marvelous now. Surely you are on the way of winning more GS this season if you are full of energy. So please rest well enough. Love you.
