Out against Roddick

27.03.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger lost in the third round of Miami today against Andy Roddick 6-7(4), 6-1, 4-6.

Both player started well, holding serve in the first set with Roddick finally taking it in the tie-breaker. In the second set, Roger broke Roddick three times and showed great tennis. In the final set, Roger did not manage to take advantage of the four break chances he had, whereas Roddick seized his only opportunity of the match to seal the victory after two hours of play.

"I had my chances," Roger said after the match. "I could have been up a break early in the third, but he did well to fight off those break points. He served really well. I didn’t just get the lucky break today that I got in Indian Wells. I regret missing my opportunities and giving myself maybe a chance for tomorrow. Then you never know how things all of a sudden turn out in the tournament. It is what it is and I’ll deal with it the way I always have.”

Next up are the Mutua Madrid Open - the tournament starts on 7 May.

This loss isn't the end of the world. Sorry your great streak ended, but I'm sure another is coming up. Miami has turned out a pretty ropey tournament without you. No-one playing particularly well apart from Ferrer, surprise, surprise., boring terrier tennis. and you against Harrison, apart from the blip.
You need a rest mental as well as physical, or so I believe.
Then you'll feel fresh for the next main part of the season.
Have a great Easter See you in May seems long time to wait!

@PRAJJI_NEO, maybe you are right with this complacency, but Roddick played two games too good with some luck, in the third set, second game Roddick played only with first service at 135 MPH, however Federer had 4 chances to break him, at the other hand, Roddick had 2 aces near the line at 0-40...

Hi Roger what went wrong you seem to freeze up on these break points you should have sailed through the match.
You keep doing this try harder if you want to get back to number one.
You have been playing brilliantly over the last few months dont let yourself or us down go go love you Helen xxxxx

I Dont understand the reason for these kind of complacency Roger :(
After winning mere 3 ATP tours that too 2 of them 500 pts you think its enough disgusting.
In this game the hunger for success is what takes you to the top and not the this kind of show losing to Roddick is just hell
I may sound a bit of critic but I hate for what you keep doing these kind of things again and again hope u rectify these mistakes in grand slams
Could not sleep for 2 days after this loss
Very Dissappointed ROGE
