Roger cruises into quarters

10.05.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger got by Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-2 to book a spot in the quarters in Madrid. Our champ broke the serve of Gasquet three times, while the Frenchman struggled to find his rhythm. Roger scored 10 aces and was able to wrap up the victory in just 58 minutes.

Next up will be David Ferrer on Friday.

The first two matchs have been greats, good luck for today. But independently from the result you are the more fantastic and unique tennis player.

Sorry I am a day late I am still amazed at your match against Rionic it was amazing you are brilliant. How do you like the blue clay I think it is very slippy.
Congratulations on your match against Gasquet you need to keep being aggressive as you do so well.Tough match next against Ferrer he is playing very well but you can do it keep going Roger you can carry on till the end. good luck love Helen xxxxxx

Great to see you playing so well last night Roger and you deserved an easier match after the last one. Looks like the blue court is ok for you and Verdasco! Heard that if you win, you'll get the Number 2, this would be huge and so deserved. You can do it. Good luck against Ferrer and yes, like some of your other fans have said, keep the rallies short. Love, liz x

Roger you are a gentleman and you always show true sportsmanship unlike other players who threaten to boycott the tournaments if the surface does not suit their game.when the grandslam courts have been slowed down to alarming levels and have become virtual clay courts which suit the defensive players more, you might have expressed your opinion but never dictated terms being the most influential player . keep it up

Great game Roger. You weren't at your best against Raonic. You weren't moving as well as you were in Indian Wells. But against Gasquet, who beat you in Rome last year, you were outstanding. Super serves, Fierce Forehand, Blinding Volleys....all in all a perfect game to set the tone after a long break. The world no.2 rankings is up for grabs if you go all the way. We know you can do it. Best of luck against Ferrer.
