Roger breezes into semis

Roger cruised into the semifinals in Madrid today with a 6-4, 6-4 win over David Ferrer.

Both Ferrer and Roger proved they are in good shape, but Roger was in control of the match most of the time. He secured a break in each set to eventually seal the victory after 80 minutes.

Roger will play tomorrow's semi-final against Janko Tipsarevic who defeated Novak Djokovic today. Our champ leads the head-to-head 4-0.

Well the head-to-head now reads 5 - 0!! Well played again Roger, you used the on-court conditions so intelligently, Janko never had a chance at all. All the best luck against Tomasz tomorrow, he's playing really well at the moment and this court suits him. Whatever, you've had a great tournament and put Seeds 1 and 2 to shame. Once more you are left standing on the tricky surface while the two so called top players fell defeated. You are playing a sharp, smart & tactical game and looking spectacular doing it. We are so proud of you Champ and always cherish your smiles & wave to us into the camera. I hope you have smooth sailing against Tipsy and we see you signing and smiling in few hours.. congratulations for your solid performance against Ferrer. It was a tough game, but thanks to your consistent tennis and confidence, eventually found yourself moving on to the SF's.
Great to see you again here, in the chase of a place in the final and, what's more, to regain the world no. 2.
I wish you all the best for the match against Tipsarevic. Play as you've been doing and make us enjoy.
