Final no. 104

12.05.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger cruised past Janko Tipsarevic 6-2, 6-3 today to book a spot in the final of the Madrid Open. He will play Tomas Berdych in a battle for a third (after 2006 and 2009) Madrid title there tomorrow.

Just like in the two prior rounds, Roger was never really in danger. He shook off the gusting winds to hit 25 winners and eight aces. He took a 3-1 lead in the first set after a first break, chasing his opponent around the court and later scoring another break to wrap up the opening set. Roger sailed on in just the same style in the second set and made everything clear after little over an hour.

Roger will play his 104th final tomorrow, aiming for his 74th career title - and 20th Masters 1000 title, Rafael Nadal's record mark so far. Our champ leads the head-to-head against Tomas Berdych 10:4, but Berdych has proved he is very strong at the moment, not having dropped a set on clay this year so far.

Bravo, Federer! You have played excellent. Match after match you played better. With Raonici was started and was warming (but what warming , heating), then next Gasket, very well, then Ferrer and in semifinal Janko Tipsarevici. Excellent!. You have served very well and you have adapted to conditions. Run very well with small steps not to slip. You can see very well the yellow ball an blue corts.. Tiriac don't forget: tournaments remain, players go.Good luck with TB. Health, mind and power

Best of luck today Roger!

I'm really hoping you get that 20th masters title and the number 2 spot. Will be watching as always. Whit you confident and form you will be able to go all the way. This season you already have experience with big hitters like Isner and Raonic.

Go for it, come on Roger!!

The BLUE CLAY!!! What a big controversy! It is not Madrid wich makes it possible, but it is a man, his name is Ion Tiriac and he is from Romania and a former tennis player. The complains regard not the colour but the fact it slips excessively. The HD television image is absolutely fantastic. For us ! The prize money is big enough. For them! We can understand each other! Tiriac and Santana will make all efforts to do things better for the next year. GO ROGER ! GO!

All the very best for the final champ. You are playing amazing tennis after your first match which was a close one. Knock Berdych off his feet. I love you Roger and are always in my prayers. You rock Rog. Goooooooooooooo for it champ.

You are sublime. I watched the match twice - as I often do - windy conditions, tricky clourt - no problem at all for our champ. I totally agree with you Rosaline, the homogeniety of the difference surfaces now has led to very boring baseline play with a loss of the variety that we all love and which we see in abundance with our Rog.

Good luck against Berdych gorgeous man, love always, xxxxx
