Final no. 104
Roger cruised past Janko Tipsarevic 6-2, 6-3 today to book a spot in the final of the Madrid Open. He will play Tomas Berdych in a battle for a third (after 2006 and 2009) Madrid title there tomorrow.
Just like in the two prior rounds, Roger was never really in danger. He shook off the gusting winds to hit 25 winners and eight aces. He took a 3-1 lead in the first set after a first break, chasing his opponent around the court and later scoring another break to wrap up the opening set. Roger sailed on in just the same style in the second set and made everything clear after little over an hour.
Roger will play his 104th final tomorrow, aiming for his 74th career title - and 20th Masters 1000 title, Rafael Nadal's record mark so far. Our champ leads the head-to-head against Tomas Berdych 10:4, but Berdych has proved he is very strong at the moment, not having dropped a set on clay this year so far.

First, congratulations for making the final. You are showing us great tennis this supposedly difficult surface.
Take care and show us your very best once again.
I will keep sending you my very best of positive energy.
May the goddess of this blue clay favour you again!
All my love and prayers,
Keiko
GOOD LUCK ROG!
Great job against Tipsarevic! Good luck in an hour against Berdych and I'll be cheering for you as always! :)
Your biggest fan,
Adeline
Love the positive outlook --- No. 2 for you and your team
and new blue (smurf) clay champion for your girls.
Today you face your carreer 104th final, in the chase of your 74th title and the world no 2. What a feeling Roger. Today, no doubt about it, can be such a great day.
I wish you all the best for the final against Berdych. He's played strongly throughout the week and will be a tough challenge to overcome.
However, I believe in you, as always. Bring magic to a new memorable afternoon.
Go Roger.
Come o
Wishing you all of the very best for your match in a couple of hours from now, against Tomas Berdych.
Kindest regards
Margaret
What wonderful tennis that you have given us this week. I am enjoying your aggressive play as well as your usual varied shot selection and 'intelligent' tennis.
Most importantly the new found self belief in your self/game. Well done and congratulations on reaching the final.
As Joke [Dutchlady] rightly said and I quote 'This week the true No 1 in tennis is in the final and the 2 players currently ranked higher than you seem to be imposters' I fully agree with her!
By winning that first match against Raonic it was almost certain that you were going to make it to the final, but it is wonderful to see that you actually did it. Congratulations! Tthis week the true No. 1 in tennis is in the final and the two players currently ranked higher than you seem to be imposters :-) !
I wish you every bit of luck and success for your match later today against Tomas Berdych. The Madrid crowd clearly loves you.
